Position Description for Development Director
TITLE: Director of Development

The Director of Development is charged with primary responsibility for initiating, managing and implementing the Holter Museum of Art’s fundraising plan under the direction of the Executive Director. The position is responsible for planning, execution, control, and evaluation of fundraising for the Holter. The Holter fundraising plan includes the annual fund drive, special events including the annual Holter Gala, planned giving, capital campaigns, and major donor solicitation. The Director of Development will oversee the design and production of fundraising-related materials in a variety of media, gift processing, acknowledgements, coordination of events, meetings, programs and other activities designed to enhance positive relations with all donors and the public. The primary objective of this position is to provide fundraising leadership and staff support to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to ensure that donated revenue goals as defined in the Holter Annual or Campaign Budgets are met or exceeded.
A minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of 5 years experience in a nonprofit organization in a fundraising or executive position.
A “Team Player” work history, positive attitude, and sense of humor is strongly preferred.
A current Certified Fund Raising Professional (CFRE) credential is strongly preferred.
Experience with Capital Campaign is preferred.
Education in nonprofit management or philanthropy is preferred.
Art museum, gallery, or cultural institution experience is preferred.
COMPENSATION: Competitive based on experience and qualifications
